‘volunteering’ to work for free?

Consider the argument used by Urban Outfitters and those who don’t see anything wrong with this: Hey, you – the employee – have a vested interest in seeing the business save money and thrive. After all, that’s the only way your paycheck can continue. So if you want that paycheck to continue, you’ll “volunteer” and give us free labor; it’s for the good of the organization, it’s for your own good to work for free.Besides, by volunteering you’ll build esprit de corps, which will be even better for the company that pays you for your hard work.
