“The university is no longer in loco parentis (in place of a parent),” she said. “When I came here, there were separate dormitories for men and women. Women could not wear shorts or slacks to class and there were curfews and sign-out sheets.”

“Today, students are much more responsible for their own behavior, which is probably better. However, at least for the girls, that caused a loss of an esprit de corps, but there is always a trade-off in change.”
